Meet the Team

Marjorie supports a range of activities aligned with the implementation of the Concordat and the University’s Research Culture Strategy. Marjorie moved from France after her PhD. She has worked at the University for over 10 years as a post-doctoral researcher before joining professional services at the end of 2019 where she supported academics to access translational research funds and training.

In her spare time, Marjorie enjoys spending quality time with her daughter crafting, reading, playing and going on outdoors adventures like fossil hunting in Robin Hood’s Bay. She is also a keen (lockdown) cyclist and will ride her bike with her club around Yorkshire and races a few 10 and 25 miles time-trials each year. When she is not cycling, she enjoys going to Powerhoop classes and walking with her friends around the local hills and fields.

Rob works across the Research Culture and Equality & Inclusion Unit teams as a Data and Insights Officer. A former student at the University of Leeds (Chinese and Management Studies), Rob has spent most of his professional life as a data analyst in the healthcare sector, most recently at NHS England. His work has included Official Statistics publications covering various areas of the NHS workforce, as well as the development and roll-out of the first standardised EDI benchmark reporting across the 400+ NHS organisations in England and Wales.

Shareefa is supporting Cat with the development, implementation and delivery of the University’s Research Culture Strategy. She has a PhD in Sociology and Social Policy from the University of Leeds and worked as a Research Project Manager at the School of Law on the Co-POWeR project. She has over 20 years of experience working as a project manager and change management consultant in Public, Private and academic environments in the UK and the Middle East and North Africa. She has received several grants from international organisations to manage women's socio-economic development engagement projects.

Malaika works on the engagement workstream with Tom and the equity workstream with Soo, while also providing vital administrative and operational support to the wider team. She collaborates across strands to help deliver the Research Culture strategy, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and effective research environment. Her work supports both internal and external projects, with a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Outside of work, Malaika is a keen film fan who rarely misses a new cinema release, and she also enjoys hiking and making the most of springtime walks.

Lorraine (she/they) is PA to the Dean and the Deputy Director for Research Culture, looking after diary management and committee servicing in addition to working alongside the Research Culture Administrator to help with purchasing, events, room bookings and travel arrangements. She is also PA to the Dean for Research Quality and part of the admin team in the Research and Innovation Service, providing additional administrative support for the wider department.

Lorraine joined the University of Leeds in 2024 after working in a variety of professional services roles at universities in London and Leeds. After completing their MA in History and Culture of Fashion at London College of Fashion, UAL, Lorraine continued researching outside of work and is part of the team behind online fashion history resource The Underpinnings Museum. They can often be found at the cinema, in a restaurant, or buying even more books at Leeds’ queer indie bookshop.
